Rufisque Health Station

Senegal

MissionLocation

Restoration and restructuring of a health post whose obsolescence today is only a reflection of its high attendance but no longer meets the health standards and the ambition of the care it wants to offer. This erodes a motivation which is nevertheless present in the SUXALI PMI association which manages it.

Mission

  • Essential place for the social and economic development of a neighbourhood
  • Providing care for minor surgeries
  • Treatment and follow-up of general medical pathology
  • Emergency first aid (stabilization) before transfer
  • Relay of health programs (vaccination, prevention campaign, hygiene and nutrition advice, etc.)
  • Pharmacy
  • Family Planning
  • Listening Centre

Location

The Keury - Souf Health Station, formerly PMI, was the first Health Station in Rufisque and its suburbs in 1958. At the time, this local centre was responsible for the vaccination of the population and provided general medicine and nutrition consultations. Its local anchorage, its accessibility, its proximity to the local population has always led it to respond to the concrete needs met and requested by those who had to call upon it. Thus a pharmacy was added in 1964 and a family planning clinic in 1984.
